Takeo City, Saga Prefecture, is located in the center of the Western Kyushu area and is easily accessible from the airports of Fukuoka, Saga, and Nagasaki prefectures. With the opening of the Nishi Kyushu Shinkansen, it is now possible to travel to the city by train from Fukuoka City, Saga City, and Nagasaki City in one hour max. Takeo City is home to a hot spring resort that boasts a history of around 1,300 years and is known for the clear, soft quality of it's water, as well as Mifuneyama Raku-en, an abundance of nature including three massive camphor trees, around 80 kilns, and a nationally renowned library, all of which are rich in history and culture.

A famous shrine in Kyushu dedicated Takenouchi no Sukune, the chief deity with the longest life expectancy in Japan. Takeo's 3,000-year-old camphor tree is the sacred tree, and a horseback archery called Yabusame is held every October.
