An autumn ultramarathon that loops Iki Island past its coast, farmland and ancient shrines – and entry is still open.
On Saturday, October 17, 2026, runners take on the “Island of the Gods” Iki Ultra Marathon, a long-distance race that circles Iki Island off the Fukuoka coast. The course runs the island’s coastline, countryside and shrine landscape – the scenery that gives Iki its name.
About the Race
The event is built around Iki’s “island treasures” – its history, culture, nature, power spots and local food – and around the hospitality of the community that lines the route. It draws ultra-runners from across Japan and is run to help promote the island and its regional revitalization.

There are two distances: a 100 km course (14-hour limit) and a 50 km course (8-hour limit). Registration for the 2026 race is open until Friday, July 17, 2026.

Planning Your Visit
Iki is about 65 minutes by jetfoil from Hakata in Fukuoka. Beyond the race, the island rewards a slow visit: Iki beef, sea urchin, barley shochu, quiet beaches, and a dense scatter of old shrines – many of them along the course itself.
