Himeji Castle, whose Tenshu (the highest tower within a Japanese castle) was built early 17th century and still remains today, is the symbol of the city. Himeji Castle is a national treasure and registered World Heritage site and attracts many tourists. Koko-en Garden, adjacent to Himeji Castle, is a Japanese garden made up of nine gardens of different sizes and styles, and there is a restaurant within the garden where you can enjoy food made with local ingredients.
