Located at the westernmost tip of Honshu, Shimonoseki is a city of straits and history, blessed with nature and culture. It is open to the sea on three sides, and you can cross to Fukuoka Prefecture on the opposite shore via the Kanmon Bridge and tunnels. It is also a historical stage that marked many turning points in history and is popular for its fresh seafood, including Fugu (pufferfish). Many people visit the spectacular Tsunoshima Ohashi Bridge and Karato Market.
